Marienea was inaugurated on May 17, 2012. It puts itself forward as an open, plural, feminist and egalitarian space for women and men of Basauri who want to work for equality.
A space that gives continuity and identity to the work that was initiated years ago to promote and strengthen policies of equality between women and men that was historically claimed in the municipality by the feminist movement. The importance for women of having their own spaces has always been present in feminism as a strategy of empowerment and visibility of the struggle for equality.
Marienea wants to be the home of all women, a space for meeting and reflection where, joining efforts and desires, we can build, together, an egalitarian society free of discrimination.
