Basherri Sarea is a network of consumer groups in Gipuzkoa. The ultimate goal of this network is to be able to decide what to eat, who produces these foodstuffs, where they are produced and how they are produced. Essentially, it is about bolstering food sovereignty and fostering seasonal produce and consumer awareness. Moreover, the network seeks to strengthen group dynamics and direct relationships between consumers and producers.
The Basherri groups offer an alternative marketing model for products produced by Baserritarras – a system that favours direct sales without the need for any intermediaries.
The Baserritarras pay a monthly fee and share the contents of a weekly basket that contains their own produce. Each member receives produce from the basket at a previously agreed time, date and place.
Not only does the network's blog contain news and information, but it also has a tool that shows on a map all of the groups that make up the network and their information.
