Balmaseda City Council drew up this Sustainable Energy Action Plan, after joining the Mayors' Pact. This action plan aims to create a benchmark that serves as a model for promoting a culture of energy saving, through awareness raising campaigns and actions to improve the current situation to tackle climate change. For this reason, this document establishes strategic lines, actions and tools to achieve sustainable development of the use, consumption and production of energy, as well as better waste management.
The strategic framework of the Balmaseda SEAP focuses on six lines of action: energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, renewable energies, waste, water and the natural environment. In addition, all the actions proposed in the different strategic lines are included in the City Council, Residential or Services sectors.
Among the measures adopted by the City Council is the increase in the efficiency of heating and lighting systems, the installation of solar panels or reforestation. These measures are also applied in the residential sector, together with measures on mobility.
