The Bertatik Bertara working group is composed of the Leitza Town Council, the consumer group LeitzEko and some of the town's residents. The group spent a year working on an analysis of local products and how they were sold.
In 2017, once they had finished their analysis, they started their participatory process known as 'Leitza Kontsumituz'. The goal of the process was to boost production of local food and its consumption.
The group worked with producers, shop owners, hotel owners, organisations, various groups and, towards the end of the process, the town's residents.
The goal of the process was to draw up a two to three-year action plan that would boost local food.
Here are some of the initiatives that are currently in place:
- Recording and screening of a documentary
- Meadow and popular food open day
- Redesigning the Friday market
- Training sessions
- Kick-starting
- Creating networks
- Local institution
- Peasant movement, Peasant organisation
