The "National Land Exchange" is an instrument whose purpose is to facilitate access to land.
It provides land with agricultural, forestry and silvopastoral potential for rent, sale or other types of transfer. They are lands that belong:
a) to the State (private domain), to municipalities, or to other public entities.
b) to private entities
It is based on the principles of universality and volunteerism. The managing entity of the Land Bank is the Ministry of Agriculture and the Sea, through the General Directorate of Agriculture and Rural Development (DGADR).
Associated with the operational management of the Land Bank are suitable entities authorised by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Sea, namely, associations of farmers or forest producers, agricultural cooperatives and other entities that manage natural resources essential for agricultural, forestry or silvopastoral production.
As of 30 April 2018, the Land Bank had provided, in cumulative values, a total of 774 plots for rent and sale, constituting a total area of 17126 ha. During the same period, 280 plots out of a total area of 7886 ha were assigned.
