Doulas Sororas is an initiative of the Allariz City Council (Ourense) that was launched in October 2018, with the aim of training women as a reference figure to whom women who suffer from male violence can turn. The program aims to work against violence under the perspective of creating alliances, as a process of accompaniment to the community.
The women doulas will be aware of the resources available and will know what to do and say in cases of male violence. It's about giving back to the rural areas the idea of mutual support, that we all help each other. To do this, the map of Allariz will be divided into four zones, which in turn will be the centre of larger areas.
The shops adehered to the project will have an identifying sticker on the door and the women who have been trained will identify themselves with a badge.
This work against gender violence in Allariz is not one-time but continues throughout the year, with meetings of the coordination board, with the participation of several sectors, such as the Guardia Civil, the Health Centre, the social worker, and others.
