The "Green Agricultural School Km0" was a training and technical assistance centre dedicated to the promotion of new organic farmers. It was based on agro-ecology as a fundamental pillar and on the promotion of biodiversity through the promotion of local varieties.
The objective of the school was to provide an integral training in agro-ecological matters to prepare professionally people capable of starting up a certain area in ecological agriculture, strengthening social skills of teamwork and cooperativism, offering advice and technical support.
The objective of the training was to prepare the students to undertake a professional activity in organic farming, in order to market their products in local and proximity circuits.
The people who completed the training joined the "Huertas LIFE Km0" project of the Zaragoza City Council, so they receive the necessary advice to obtain land and start their professional activity.
The training was aimed at all those people interested in starting to practice professional organic farming within the municipality of Zaragoza. No previous knowledge of agriculture was required, but a high degree of motivation to learn and work as a team and to enter professionally into agro-ecological farming was. The project was also open to all active farmers interested in the practice of organic farming.
