GoiEner is a cooperative project that generates and provides renewable energy, in an effort to achieve energy sovereignty. GoiEner sets out to achieve energy sovereignty for citizens by entering into the levels of the electricity sector that are currently liberalised, and by selling and generating energy. It is a not-for-profit cooperative. Any profit that is generated from sales of green energy to its members is reinvested into the cooperative, and the members of the cooperative decide how the money is going to be used at their assemblies. To date, a number of municipalities have collaborated, including: Usurbil, Bera, Araia-Asparrena, Orendain, Alegia, Ea, Tolosa, Busturia, Leitza and Hernani.
