A programme driven by the Department for Agriculture and managed by the Office for Managing and Agricultural Land and the public company Basalan. The aim of the project is to provide land to people who want to carry out agricultural activity on farms, on existing or newly created lands. The project prioritises young people and women. People can use the land in exchange for a fee set by the Technical Commission on Prices and Valuation – a measure adopted by the District Council in an effort to avoid price speculation. Since its inception five years ago, the Fund for Agricultural Land has managed to acquire a total of 98.5 hectares of agricultural land – land that is widely dispersed throughout the territory of Bizkaia.
