The Gipuzkoa District Council Land Bank is a tool that was created by the Department for Innovation, Rural Development and Tourism and is managed by Behemendi, the Association for Rural Development. The aim of the land bank is twofold: regulate the use of farms used for agricultural activity and avoid these farms falling into disuse and making them available to all people who require land for activities linked to agriculture, livestock, forestry, nature conservation, heritage, among other uses for social interest. The main function of the land bank is to revitalise relationships and act as an intermediary between landowners and people who require land, in addition to providing guarantees, trust and security when managing and using farms. There have been two handovers of lands in the Urreleku farmhouse in Lezo, which belongs to the District Council and is part of the Agricultural Land Fund.
