Sambucus is an osonenca company that creates professional opportunities for people with difficulties through innovating business in the agri-food sector, managing the product at all points of the value chain: from organic farming to quality cooking.
The project started at the end of 2011. Manlleu City Council and the Lluçanès Consortium were very concerned at the time that part of the population would be excluded from the labour market. They were also clear about the revitalising capacity of outdoor work and the need to revalue work in the countryside while at the same time making it a productive and business-oriented task that is sustainable. And it was they who proposed to carry out the project. They also wanted to give a job opportunity to people who for one reason or another could be excluded from the labor market. And to do so with productions linked to the agri-food culture of the area.
In the associated work cooperative there are seven people and we have approximately four people hired in the labour insertion section, who rotate.
The project includes the agro-ecological production of orchards, with distribution of baskets and presence in local markets, the production and drying of infusions and aromatics and the restaurant.
