This order seeks to guarantee and regulate healthy eating in all publicly owned centres, whether they are health, education or social services centres.
It will also promote the incorporation of local and organic foods in public food purchases. Health actions in the field of food contemplate the incorporation of nutritional criteria in the menus of public canteens, so as to increase the consumption of fruit and vegetables and reduce the consumption of trans and saturated fats, salt and sugar. The companies awarded the contract must be supplied with at least 40% of fresh, seasonal fruit and vegetables in the Valencia Region and 3% of their purchases must be organic.
