In January 2009, a working group was set up at the request of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries on short circuits for the marketing of agricultural products. This initiative gives continuity to Assises de l'Agriculture's work in which the group "Food" proposed, among five identified ways of action, to strengthen the link between producers and consumers by supporting local actions that rekindle this link.
This working group brought all stakeholders involved together: The State, research organisations, local and regional authorities, agricultural unions and structures which have developed this marketing method.
