The main objective of the Gipuzkoa Energy Poverty Observatory is to offer relevant, systematised and updated information on the problem of energy poverty in the territory of Gipuzkoa, as well as on the main measures carried out with the aim of reducing or alleviating it. From this point of view, the specific objectives are as follows:
- To offer a quick, simple and attractive overview of a wide range of indicators and data related to the impact of energy poverty and its causes.
- Provide institutions, local entities and, in general, all interested agents with information and documentary resources for the planning of their activities in this field.
- To raise public awareness of this problem. A problem in its different forms affects almost two out of every ten households in Gipuzkoa, providing them with a greater degree of knowledge on this issue.
Among other activities, the Department of the Environment and Hydraulic Works is in charge of publishing the Study of Fuel Poverty in Gipuzkoa, based on the results obtained through the Survey on Poverty and Social Exclusion.
