The Municipal Programme to Combat Climate Change is the guiding instrument for local policy in this field. The starting point will be the stocktaking of greenhouse gases and their reduction, as well as the implementation of climate change adaptation measures.
To this end, measures were taken aimed at energy efficiency and the reduction of consumption in municipal installations, such as the installation of thermal and photovoltaic solar panels in public buildings and a thermal barrier in the swimming pool to prevent heat loss; and the implementation of highly efficient boilers in municipal premises.
As far as waste reduction is concerned, various possibilities will be studied, such as composting in the residential sector and the possibility of tax incentives to reduce waste generation. On the other hand, campaigns have been launched to encourage the exchange of products (toys, household furniture) and also to increase the use of unpackaged seasonal produce.
As far as adaptation measures are concerned, support will be offered to ecological agriculture and livestock by means of a rebate in the Tax on Constructions, Installations and Works (ICIO) and in Real Estate Tax, as well as a reduction in the cost of sales spaces.
